- Respiratory Protection Training - 29 CFR 1910.134 Instruction includes methods of protection from harmful exposures to dust, fumes, vapors and mists. The need for medical evaluations and fit tests are also covered. Annual retraining on this subject is required by OSHA; make sure your company is compliant by scheduling today.
- Lockout/Tagout Training – 29 CFR 1910.147 the control of hazardous energy. This standard covers the servicing and maintenance of machines where the unexpected start up of the machine or the sudden release of energy could cause injury to the employee. Participants will learn about different types of energy and methods of isolation and control. OSHA requires this training before employees are exposed to hazardous energy.
- Permit Required Confined Space Training – 29 CFR 1910.146 this standard contains requirements for practices and procedures to protect workers in general industry from the hazards of entry into confined spaces. Confined Space entrants, attendants and supervisors are required by OSHA to be trained before being assigned any of these duties.
- Powered Industrial Trucks – 29 CFR 1910.178 Learn the safety requirements for fire protection, design, maintenance, and the use of fork trucks, tractors, platform lift trucks, motorized hand trucks and other specialized industrial trucks. Participants will receive classroom instruction as well as practical hands on evaluations. Training is required prior to an employee using a forklift, and retraining is required every three years.
- Scaffold Training – 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L Scaffolds this subpart applies to all scaffolds used in the workplace except crane supported man baskets. OCTS offers classes for scaffold users, erectors, as well as “competent persons” for frame, tube and clamp and systems scaffolds. OSHA requires scaffold users be trained on the potential hazards from working off a scaffold, erectors must be trained on the hazards of scaffold erecting including fall protection, scaffolds can only be erected only under the direct supervision of a “competent person”. Scaffold must be inspected each shift by a “competent person” prior to the scaffold being used
- Process Safety Management – 29 CFR 1910.119 this standard contains the requirements for preventing or minimizing the consequences of catastrophic releases of toxic, reactive, flammable or explosive chemicals. These releases may result in toxic, flammable or explosion hazards. Students will be instructed in methods of hazard control such as lockout/Tagout procedures as well as safe work permits
- Trenching and Excavation - 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P Excavations applies to all open excavations made in the earths crust, this includes trenches. Protect your employees working in trenches and excavations by training them on the many hazards when working below grade. OSHA requires trenches and excavations be inspected daily by a “competent person” prior to work beginning. “Competent Person” training includes soil analysis, protective systems as well as the Subpart P requirements
- Rigging equipment for material handling training – 29 CFR 1926.251 Students learn the OSHA requirements for safe material handling. Topics include rigging types, inspection requirements, and proper storage.
- Hazard Communication Training – 29 CFR 1910.1200 also known as “The Workers Right to Know” this standard requires employers to notify their employees of any hazardous chemicals used in the workplace. Topics covered include MSDS sheets as well as properly labeling hazardous chemical containers. OSHA requires employers to provide this training prior to employees working with any hazardous chemicals.
- Bloodborne Pathogens Training – 29 CFR 1910.1030 this training is required for all employees with an occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Occupational exposure is defined by OSHA as reasonably anticipated skin, eye, or mucous membrane contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials that may result from the performance of the employee’s duties. This would include employees who were trained in First Aid/CPR who may respond to a workplace accident to render first aid. Topics covered include exposure control, personal protective equipment and actions required by accidental exposure.
- Fall Protection Training – 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M this subpart sets forth the requirements for fall protection in construction workplaces. Students will be trained in the OSHA requirements for the use of fall protection. Topics covered floor holes, floor openings, guardrail requirements, and personal fall arrest systems, vertical and horizontal lifelines
- Aerial Lifts Training – 29 CFR 1926.454 Aerial Lifts, Articulating Boom Lifts, Ladder Trucks , and Bucket Trucks all are covered under the scaffold standard. OSHA requires that each employee who performs work while on a scaffold shall be trained by a person qualified in the subject matter to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and to understand the procedures and controls used to minimize these hazards
- Electrical Safety Training – 29 CFR 1910 Subpart S or 29CFR 1910 Subpart K OSHA requires electrical safety training as topics to be covered in both 10 hr and 30 hr Construction and General Industry courses. Topics covered include wiring methods, hazards of electrical shock, flexible cord safety, and the value of ground fault circuit interrupters
- CPR/First Aid Training – 29 CFR 1910.151 Learn the skills to save the lives of co workers as well as family members. OSHA requires in the absence of a hospital or infirmary in near proximity (3 to 4 minutes) some on the jobsite must be trained in CPR/First aid. We have professional paramedics available on our staff to provide American Red Cross approved training.
- OSHA 10 hour and 30 Hour General Industry and Construction Courses The 10 hour programs are intended to provide entry level workers general awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards in the workplace. The training covers a variety of topics the worker may encounter on the worksite. Many plants and mills require this course as a prerequisite to employment. 30 hour courses are usually intended for supervisors or managers to ensure they are up to date on the various OSHA standards
- Lead Awareness Training – 29 CFR 1926.62 Workers with the potential of being occupationally exposed to lead are covered under this OSHA standard. Employers are required to provide an information and training program for employees exposed above the action level to lead. Topics covered include exposure assessments, methods of compliance, respiratory protection, protective work clothing, and medical surveillance. - Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training– 29 CFR 1910.120 OSHA requires employees who work on sites involving hazardous materials performing clean up or corrective actions are trained at a level commensurate to the duties they perform. Topics covered include decontamination, emergency response, site characterization, medical surveillance, and safe handling of drums and containers. 24 hour and 40 hour classes offered.
- Fire Protection Training 29 CFR 1910.157(g) where employers provide portable fire extinguishers for employee use in the workplace, the employer shall also provide an educational program to familiarize the employees with the general principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards of insipient firefighting.
